i dreamed a dream by kathy xenos

oh hot damn, this is my jam | i dreamed a dream → les miserables

After doing loads of research, watching a few different versions of the show and listening to about twenty different versions of this song [including beautiful Jess’s and Hannah’s which I adore], I have used them as my inspiration and decided to challenge myself and audition for a role that I personally don’t think suits me, but is a dream role of mine. Both Eponine and Fantine are such wonderful parts, but I’m right in the middle of where their ages lie, and I can’t sing On My Own all that well. I also think that it would be such a learning experience to play Fantine’s character, and already from trying to pour enough emotion into this one song, I can tell it will be difficult. But she is an incredible woman and the more I read (reading the book too) and listen, the more fascinated I become by her. I’m not getting my hopes up again in regards to the audition, but any feedback would be greatly appreciated to help me in the process. This was only my second take though, so I’ve got a lot of practise to do, but here is [my attempt at my audition song] I Dreamed A Dream.
